Role Overview:
The Meal Delivery Driver will play a key role in ensuring our meals reach clients safely and on time. This individual will be responsible for driving, meal delivery, vehicle maintenance, and observing client well-being during the delivery process. The ideal candidate is reliable, compassionate, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities:

• Safely maintain and follow a designated delivery route to ensure timely meal deliveries to clients.
• Monitor food temperatures during transport and report any discrepancies to the Site Coordinator.
• Ensure adherence to the planned meal menus and communicate any changes as needed.
• Assist in meal pick-up and delivery to homebound seniors, maintaining a focus on service and care.
• Return completed paperwork and report any missed deliveries.
• Safely store undelivered meals as required.
• Adhere to all traffic safety rules and exercise sound judgment while driving, especially in high-traffic or inclement weather conditions.
• Assist in Senior Program locations as needed.
• Observe clients and their environment, reporting any concerns or safety issues to the team.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any maintenance or operational issues promptly.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure it is in good working condition and up-to-date with all necessary registrations and insurance.
• Keep accurate logs of deliveries, including mileage, gasoline use, and contributions collected.
• Assist in optimizing delivery schedules to minimize travel time and maximize efficiency.
• Return the vehicle to its designated parking area at the end of each shift.

Qualifications:

• Valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• At least 2 years of driving experience in New York City or other high-traffic areas.
• Ability to use GPS navigation effectively.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Empathy for the needs of homebound seniors, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with care.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating as part of a team.
• Willingness to complete Elder Abuse Training after being hired.
• Must pass a thorough background check and drug test.
• English fluency required; bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
• No more than one moving violation during the past 24 months.
• Must provide 2 written references.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work standing or walking for extended periods.
• Perform physical tasks such as bending, squatting, and repetitive motions.
• Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
