Investment Analyst/Associate - Structured Finance & Investments

NYC Private Equity - Investment Management Firm

J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for an experienced and highly motivated Investment Associate - Structured Finance and Investments at a prominent NYC Private Equity - Investment Manager.

An exciting opportunity to be a key part of the growth of the firm, funds and team and will work closely with senior members of the firm to evaluate and execute on investments within numerous asset classes and across the capital structure.

This individual will be a significant contributor in enabling their vision and helping the organization to grow and improve their businesses. To be successful in this role you must be highly detail oriented and organized, able to meet assigned deadlines and have first class communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Corporate financial modeling (debt and equity) and asset valuation
  • Qualitative and quantitative business, financial, and other due diligence in conjunction with the deal team and third-party advisors, agents, accountants
  • Working with lenders to secure financing vis-a-vie revolving facilities, private placements, and public capital markets
  • Preparing internal materials, including Investment Memorandums and transaction analysis for presentation to Investment Committee
  • Monitoring and supporting investment assets and portfolio companies

The ideal candidate would have a background including :

  • 2-4 years investment banking, investment firm or fund experience
  • Structured Finance or Leveraged Finance or Alternative Asset experience – Rail, Aviation, Transportation experience is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Ability to manage a process from start to finish with true ownership in areas that might be new to both the individual and even the firm

Education :

Strong academic record and a bachelor’s or higher degree

The salary range is $80,000 - $140,000 plus employees may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable laws.
