- Worksite Location: Remote
- Contract Duration: 4 months
- Compensation: $50.00 - $90.00 per hour (W2)
What you'll do as a Payroll Tax Consultant: - Review and triage federal, state, and local payroll tax agency notifications to identify discrepancies and resolve outstanding issues
- Investigate delinquencies, penalties, or mismatches while collaborating with payroll providers, tax authorities, and internal stakeholders for timely resolution
- Analyze and streamline payroll tax workflows, documentation practices, and account registrations to improve compliance and efficiency
- Reconcile payroll tax liabilities and validate year-to-date reporting for accuracy
- Recommend and implement process improvements that reduce risk and strengthen ongoing payroll tax operations
- Maintain organized documentation of resolutions, correspondence, and outcomes
- Provide knowledge transfer and guidance to payroll teams on compliance requirements and best practices
What you’ll bring to the Payroll Tax Consultant role: - 5+ years of hands-on payroll tax compliance experience in a multi-state environment
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Proven experience resolving payroll tax notices and working directly with tax agencies
- Expertise in Workday and ADP Smart Compliance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and document management systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in fast-paced environments
