Responsibilities*

Assist in research involving human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) using standard biology methods, tests, and analysis applied to cells grown on special substrates; set up, operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, & maintain laboratory instruments and equipment; ensure lab operations comply with set standards & regulations; monitor experiments; collect data & samples; make observations; calculate & record results; organize research laboratory operations, including supply/equipment inventories & purchasing as well as onboarding lab members; assist in training lab members in hPSC culture and differentiation, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, & quantitative image analysis; isolate, identify & prepare hPSCs for examination by creating substrates, including developing consistent micropatterning process for hPSCs using photolithography on various substrates in order to study mesoderm differentiation.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's in biology-based field, including Biomedical Engineering + 2 years researching human stem cell differentiation using immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, and quantitative image analysis; and developing micropatterning processes on various substrates for human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC) using photolithography and other techniques.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
