Duties Description Licensed Respiratory Therapists are responsible for patient care, which includes continuous ventilation, airway maintenance, emergency care, pulmonary function testing, cardiorespiratory rehabilitation, infection control, isolation procedures, and the administration of cardiorespiratory drugs. You would serve as a resource to physicians in relation to technical aspects of respiratory care and to hospital staff regarding effective and safe methods of administering respiratory therapy. The Licensed Respiratory Therapist assists patients with airway management and performs other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health Helen Hayes Hospital employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Respiratory Therapist.HELPS: Possession of a license and current registration as a respiratory therapist in New York State.

Additional Comments One permanent competitive full-time appointment or non-competitive, full-time appointment via HELPS. Degrees awarded from educational institutions outside of the United States, or its territories must be independently verified for equivalency. Please see for additional information. The posted salary range ($73,506-$85,63) includes an additional geographic pay differential of $13,000 and downstate adjustment of $4,000. Additional compensation may apply based on shift assignment. 7% shift differential for evening shift. 10% shift differential for night shift.This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.
