Job Description
Summary The Van Driver is responsible for safely transporting children to and from school and the childcare center in a timely and professional manner. This role requires strict adherence to safety policies, licensing regulations, and center procedures to ensure each child’s wellbeing during transport.
Duties - Safely transport children between the daycare center and designated schools according to the daily schedule.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and center transportation policies.
- Maintain accurate attendance logs for children during pick-up and drop-off.
- Assist children in and out of the van, ensuring seatbelts are properly fastened and all children are safely secured.
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and daycare staff regarding transportation matters.
- Keep the van clean, organized, and stocked with necessary safety supplies (first aid kit, emergency contact list, etc.).
- Report any vehicle issues, incidents, or delays immediately to the Center Director.
- Support classroom staff as needed when not driving (optional based on center needs
Requirements - Must be at least 21 years of age (or as required by state regulations).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check, driving record check, and drug screening.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
