Work LocationIn-person Expected durationThree to Six months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe internship is located in the United Nations Office of Programme Planning, Finance and Budget under the Secretariat of the Independent Audit Advisory Committee of the General Assembly. The intern will report to the Executive Secretary of the IAAC. IAAC was established pursuant to General Assembly resolution 60/248 and serves in an expert advisory capacity and assists the Assembly in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities. For more information on IAAC visit: The internship is for a maximum period of six (6) months. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the office to which they are assigned. Responsibilities of the internship position range widely, encompassing many aspects of the section's work. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: • Conduct surveys and collect data. • Research, analyze and compile information relevant to the assigned projects. • Support their respective teams by analyzing data and creating strategic communication products, such as presentations, analyzing data extracted from the UN ERP and/or other systems. • Perform analysis and identify solutions to issues requiring attention. • Communicate and follow up with relevant stakeholders/parties to ensure such issues are resolved. • Assist with meetings and the preparation of management reports. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Programme. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Additional InformationVisa and Work Authorization Mandatory Requirements: For in-person internships in the United States of America, persons who are not United States citizens, permanent residents or on another non-immigrant visa status (such as F-1 or J-1 visa), will be required to obtain a G-4 visa for a full-time (at least 35 hours per week) internship. Candidates who are on a non-immigrant visa status as students such as F-1 or J-1 visa with an employment authorization will only be able to intern on a part-time basis. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
