Job Description

Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant I with 1–3 years of accounting experience and strong Microsoft Excel skills to support billing, disbursements, and financial reporting. This is a junior-level role with exposure to corporate compliance, ERP systems, and process improvements, ideal for candidates looking to grow their accounting career.

Onsite | No Visa Sponsorship | No Relocation Assistance

Contract Duration: 6 months

Location: Urbandale, IA (Onsite daily until trained, then 6x/month)

Please Note: Applicants must be local to Urbandale, IA and have 1-3 years of accounting experience to be considered.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct trend and variation analysis for key accounts.
• Support multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
• Respond professionally to internal and external communications.
• Prepare and analyze accounting reports, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
• Process billing, disbursements, and payment applications accurately and timely.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, SOX, SSAE16, GAAP, and local statutory regulations.
• Assist in developing and documenting accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements.

Qualifications/Must Haves:

• 1–3 years of accounting or finance experience.
• Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Excellent communication skills and professionalism in email correspondence.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP, data analysis)

Preferred Skills:

• Certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, or CFE.
• Exposure to corporate compliance standards.
• Experience in insurance or financial services industries.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle)
