Job Description: HCFCA Custodian

General Description:

The HCFCA Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean environment for the HCF Christian Academy. This position will further the mission of HCF through regular cleaning & upkeep for ministry to children, along with general church facilities cleaning & upkeep.

Pay & Status: Hourly, part-time (32 hours per week)

Classification & Category: Non-Exempt, Support Services

Reports to: Facilities Director (close coordination with the HCFCA Director)

Essential Job Functions

Regular Cleaning & Upkeep, HCFCA (75%):

  • Perform routine weekday after-hours cleaning of all HCFCA classrooms, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, removing trash, and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Clean and restock HCFCA restrooms.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, paper products, and other necessary items.
  • Ensure all doors and windows are secured and lights are off after completing tasks, especially when working after hours.
  • Perform deep cleaning tasks as available (e.g. rugs, windows, blinds, restrooms).

Regular Cleaning & Upkeep, HCF (25%):

  • Perform routine cleaning of all church areas, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, removing trash, and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Clean and restock restrooms regularly.
  • Schedule and perform deep cleaning tasks as needed (e.g., shampooing carpets, polishing floors).
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, paper products, and other necessary items.
  • Ensure all doors and windows are secured after completing tasks, especially when working after hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Previous custodial, janitorial, or cleaning experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean environment.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, carry, and stand for extended periods.
  • Dependability and trustworthiness, as work may occur after hours.
