SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

 

This position will require the commitment of 2 terms (spring and summer), running from January 12th through August 7, 2026. 


Assist the Senior Design Managers with tasks related to the documentation of the existing conditions of Penn Station and the design phase under the Master Developer project.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage, update and organize the Space Planning and Programming information for all station functions and operations.
  • Communicate with Amtrak Design Managers and PMCM personnel as well as Master Developer team on issues related to design development and existing conditions.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Amtrak Design Managers and Construction Managers for existing condition surveys and investigative studies related to constructability and materiality.
  • Research materials and construction technology as needed to inform design or exploratory investigations.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  • Must be actively pursuing a degree in a design field (architecture, environmental systems, preservation, structural or civil engineering, etc.).
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

 

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

PAY TRANSPARENCY:
The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
